Langa Air Academy 

CFI Course

A course designed to prepare candidates for the Flight Instructor Rating.

 CFI Part 61.185 Course;  designed to meet the requirements of FAR 61.185(a)(1),(2) and provide instruction in preparation for the CFI practical oral examination.   Upon completion, the candidate should possess the knowledge and aptitude to pass the oral examination to PTS standards.

  •         5 days including 20 hours ground:  Covering all items in the PTS including practical teaching exercises in order to prepare the candidate for real world teaching situations.

 Price:     $600.00

 CFI Part 61.187 Course;  designed to meet the requirements of FAR 61.187 (b)(1)(i-iv) and provide the qualified student preparation for the CFI practical flight examination.  Upon completion, the candidate should possess the knowledge and aptitude to pass the flight examination to PTS standards.

  •        7 days including :  10 hours dual flight instruction:  Conducted in a C172-RG   covering all maneuvers in the PTS, and 15 hours of ground instruction covering practical teaching exercises in preparing the candidate for the FAA Oral Examination and Check Ride.

  •        FAA Practical Test                           

 Price:    $2280.00

*              Completion of the CFI Part 61.185Course is required as a prerequisite for enrollment into the CFI Part 61.187 Course; or a qualified and prepared candidate has the option to test- out of the CFI Part 61.185 by successfully passing an oral examination administered by a Langa Air Academy representative.   The cost to test-out is $120.00.

Variations to the price can include:

                Use of Designated Examiner instead of the FAA – additional $250.00

                Spin Certification and Signoff – additional $200

                Currency Training - $115 per hour (aircraft rental and instruction)

                Completing Written Tests (CFI, FOI) $60 each

  •       CFI written with 85% or better test results

  •        FOI written with 85% or better test results

  •       Commercial, Instrument rated

  •        Current in C-172 RG

  •        Current in commercial maneuvers           

  •        2nd class medical               

  •        CFI Spin Sign Off 61.183(i)(1)(2)

  •        Pass of CFI Prep Course or passing an oral examination prior to enrollment.

  •     45 out of 50 passed THE RIDE on the first attempt – all subsequently have passed

Holiday Inn:  Approximately 5 miles from the airport.  The regular rate is $89 - $99 a night.  We receive a rate of $69 a night plus tax.
