The Flight Academy of Langa Air Featured in Career Video

 Date:                July 16, 2001

The Flight Academy of Langa Air recently was profiled in a video career segment for The Illinois Occupational Coordinating Committee (IOICC).  This video will be a part of an Illinois and Missouri computer network system that will allow students, teachers, counselors and One-Stop coordinators with an excellent educational/employment resource.

The career segments, which Langa is now a part of, will be available for viewing by middle and high school students in Illinois and Missouri on the internet via the Illinois Century Network (ICN), a high-speed delivery platform.  ICN currently reaches 75% of all the school districts in Illinois.  ICN already connects to all the public schools and colleges in the Alton area.

“We are excited to be a part of this program,” said Scott Langa, vice president of Langa Air, “this system will allow anybody interested in learning about a specific career to log onto this site and view first hand a video outlining exactly what the career of their choosing is all about.”

“The commercial flight industry is experiencing a pilot shortage like it has never seen.  A program like this could be a big boost to the industry and us directly,” added Langa.

Langa’s involvement in the program came from a direct referral from Steve Bryant, the Mayor of Bethalto.  Langa Air’s project was funded by the River Bend Growth Association which has sponsored several other programs.  “I greatly appreciate Mayor Bryant referring us,” said Langa, “ and I am very honored that the River Bend Growth Association would feel confident enough in our business to support us in this way.”

In furthering Langa’s commitment to the flight training industry, they have recently set up a scholarship program for 16 through 19 year olds interested in a career in aviation.  The deadline for entry is now September 29, 2001.  Please call for more information.
